Laura Len Mark and Tim 2014 Go look at 2013 2016

2014

Laura helped me get a new camera.... That can actually take pictures when the shutter is released not some time later. Here she is!

I have wanted a better camera for some time. The one I had took nice enough pictures, point and shoot thing, but it had a lot of draw backs.

  • long delay from pushing the button till picture taken. I missed so many smiles and candid opportunities.
  • poor light gathering. Really noisy shots in low light.
  • poor optics... what can one expect from a cheap camera.
  • unable to use my old lens from my SLR.
  • not teatherable to my computer.

So I had been looking at what was available. It seems only Pentax will accept the K mount lens that I have natively, but they are expensive and not well supported. It seems my choices were Nikon or Canon when it came to available accessories etc. I could get a K mount adaptor for either one, but the Nikon needed an optical element for the k mount lens to focus correctly, while the Canon did not. Adaptor optical elements are cheap and tend to be low quality, so I started looking at Canon stuff and that is what we got. I have gotten some really nice candid photographs already and the quality is much better even when I lower the resolution as I did the picture to the left.

Laura show her nursing skills at home too. I like the natural lighting with no flash. Things are softer not stark.

A self portrait by Timothy. Again no flash. I tried flash first and it had glare and the colour was not right.

Winter showed up after all. We thought we had missed it, but here it is at the end of February.

This guy didn't like it too much either.

Tim demonstrates his new USB hub. This allows him to use a webcam as well as his mouse. Webcams and USB hubs are $3 each these days.

Mark is a young adult. Smiles like his dad.

Tim wasn't going to let me take his picture, but he glanced over his shoulder.

Mark and Tim having fun.

Tim says he is taller.

Now he is really taller.

Lets try Back to Back.
